Cool, first update 🙂
For a moment I though she said that “we have to kelp him!” I’m sorry
How’s that koi boy going to get himself out of this one?!
Re: Your ad question, I found you via a PW ad, so whatever you’re doing seems to be working. 🙂
Awesome, thanks for clicking my ad 😉
That eel looks suuuuper happy :O
He’s having a good time ^^
Someone already added it to Comic-Rocket but i’ll take a look at Inkoutbreak. Thanks!
Just found this comic and so glad that I did! I love the art style and idea for the world – both of them are so unique! The characters seem great, too. When I got to his page I kept clicking next XD Can’t wait for more!
Glad you like it! 🙂
Muccus, you jerk, you ALWAYS check to see if someone is really dead before you use them as giant eel bait!
haha yes, I think that should be number 1 rule of the sea.
Now to wait until Monday *sigh*
On the note of advertising, those people I told you about over Tumblr have decent viewers. Wapsi Square may be a bit pricey though.
Also, your comic is now on Piperka, so advertising there would be a could way to fill the subscriptions up there. Same with Belfry, once they decide to add you to their database 🙂
Alrighty, i’ll look into those. Thanks again for adding Kappa to Piperka and Belfry 🙂
That was a cool video! Oh my god, the sling jaw has such long lips!!
I think your question will be answered with the next update on Monday. I will tell you that Kappa has been in similar situations before, and it helps that this eel is pretty slow 😉
Thanks for all the info ^^ I have heard that Top Webcomics is one of the best ways to gain viewers, so i’ve been thinking about advertising there.
I’ll try to get the buttons figured out as soon as I can, thanks for subscribing! XD
There are other decent voting sites too. Super 100 and ComicBasement are good. There is one called WebComicRanking, but it’s a Japanese site, so unless you have someone to guide you through registering there, it might be difficult.
Awesome, i’ll check those out 🙂
oh and concerning share buttons… I believe there is an option in comicpress… not sure.
Oh really? Thanks, I’ll have to look into it.
The suspense D:
Yeah, I keep draaaaging it out 😀
Hmm… Maybe you could try Paranatural?
Thanks, i’ll check it out 😉
You might also try Everblue and Jackie’s Story. (The latter of which is in the spirit of this comic.)
I’ll check those out 😉
Just found this comic (as a side add on a page of Selkie, which made me chuckle), and I LOVE the obvious thought that’s gone into creating the world – like the funerary customs for example. Though if these people aren’t air-breathers, I really don’t know why he’d rise to the surface when obviously not dead in this case. As in, why’s his body trying to float before he wakes up?
Hello! Thanks so much for reading ^^
I’ve thought about how gravity should work in this world and decided that if there is no momentum moving a character in a certain direction, then they will simply hover in one spot. (The same thing doesn’t always apply to giant creatures, since they are much bigger) However, if a character is dead then The Surface will ‘claim their soul’ and they will start floating upwards towards the afterlife.
Kappa isn’t dead so he’s just hovering in one spot, however Marl and Muccus believe he’s dead and that he’ll float to The Surface if they don’t tie him down.
There is more that plays into the religion of this world. things like ‘air’ are matters that they don’t understand so they’ll have different explanations involving gods and magic and such.
And It may not be air, actually. This is supposed to be a different world so who knows what’s beyond the Surface 😉
I am now even more in love with this comic – and happy I’ve gotten onboard early on!
I write stories of my own (some published IRL, mostly just for fun, though) and I’m definitely a “worldbuilder” type of writer, so all this background information, whether freely given by the artist or slowly gleaned from the story, just adds layers of depth into the reality the story exists in. And I love that.
Have you ever read a short story called “Surface Tension” by James Blish? Your mysterious hints (nicely done on hooking my curiosity, btw =P) reminded me of it.
I looked up Surface Tension and the premise seems really interesting, i need to read it some time 🙂
And i’m glad you appreciate all the thought i’ve put into this world! I’m actually working on a map of it right now and I’ll try to post more concept art 😉
